Octopus

Started in October 2024 to challenge myself, from doing A3 artworks that would last me no more than a week, to something that would last longer!

This ambitious piece is truly a labour of love - from hand drawing on my iPad, to scaling up and transferring to fabric, painting and finally adding the embroidery threads in a simple short and long stitch - it is transforming slowly through a simple but meditative process.

I started this in October 2024. After scaling up the design, I traced in onto the fabric and added an acrylic paint base for the basic shapes, as I didn't want the purple fabric showing through.
I kicked off the embroidery in the new year of 2025. Since then I have gone through dips and throughs of my focus on it. But, I am super chuffed with how far I have got and how it has turned out.

My goal was to have it complete by the end of 2025, but unfortunately I don't think I am going to reach that!
